Rosacea-sufferer

Rosacea Sufferers Why This Moisturiser Keeps Winning Fans

We have been receiving glowing reviews for our Facial Moisturiser from Rosacea sufferers, but why, when it wasn't sopecifically designed to ease Rosacea, is it so effective?

The strength of the natrl “Natural Botox” Facial Moisturiser is not really the “Botox” aspect. Its value comes from a combination of anti-inflammatory oils, barrier-supporting lipids, deep hydration, and the absence of many common rosacea triggers such as fragrance and essential oils.

The ingredients most likely helping rosacea-prone skin

1. Rosehip Oil (Rosa Canina Fruit Oil)

One of the most beneficial ingredients in the formula for rosacea.

Benefits include:

  • Rich in essential fatty acids that support skin barrier repair.
  • Contains natural vitamin A derivatives in a much gentler form than retinol.
  • Helps reduce redness and inflammation.
  • Can improve skin resilience and reduce moisture loss.

For rosacea, maintaining an intact skin barrier is often more important than adding powerful active ingredients, and rosehip oil contributes significantly here.

2. Red Raspberry Seed Oil

An underrated ingredient for sensitive skin.

Benefits include:

  • High levels of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
  • Anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Antioxidant protection against environmental stressors that can trigger flare-ups.
  • Helps calm irritated skin and reduce visible redness.

3. Tomato Seed Oil

Often overlooked, but potentially very useful for rosacea sufferers.

Benefits include:

  • Rich in lycopene and other carotenoid antioxidants.
  • Helps protect against oxidative stress, which is thought to play a role in rosacea inflammation.
  • Provides lightweight moisturisation without feeling heavy.

4. Glycerin

One of the most evidence-backed moisturising ingredients available.

Benefits include:

  • Attracts water into the skin.
  • Improves barrier function.
  • Reduces dryness and tightness, common symptoms experienced by rosacea sufferers.
  • Helps minimise the irritation cycle caused by dehydrated skin.

5. Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

Provides:

  • Antioxidant protection.
  • Additional support for skin barrier repair.
  • Reduced inflammatory stress within the skin.

Ingredients that may be helping indirectly

Acmella (Spilanthes Acmella Extract)

This is the “natural Botox” ingredient.

While its primary purpose is softening expression lines by relaxing facial tension, some rosacea sufferers may benefit indirectly because:

  • Reduced facial tension can lessen mechanical irritation.
  • It appears to have mild anti-inflammatory properties.

However, I would not consider Acmella the main reason rosacea sufferers respond well to the product.

The surprisingly important factor: what isn’t in it!

Many rosacea sufferers react badly to:

  • Fragrance
  • Essential oils
  • Alcohol-heavy formulations
  • Strong acids
  • Retinoids
  • Synthetic colourants

The natrl formula is:

  • Fragrance-free
  • Essential oil-free
  • Relatively simple
  • Rich in barrier-supporting oils
  • Free from aggressive exfoliating actives

That makes it inherently rosacea-friendly compared with many anti-ageing moisturisers.

One ingredient to watch

Witch Hazel (Hamamelis Virginiana Bark Extract)

Witch hazel can:

  • Reduce redness temporarily through vasoconstriction.
  • Tighten skin and pores.

However, some rosacea sufferers find it irritating, however one recent reviewer specifically reported significant improvement in rosacea symptoms after using the moisturiser.

Overall assessment

The product is unusual because it combines anti-ageing benefits with a relatively low-irritation ingredient profile. For many rosacea sufferers, that combination is more valuable than the wrinkle reducing properties of Acmella “natural Botox” itself.

When formulating a new product, we set our with some goals and effects we are trying to achieve, without compromising our 100% natural, plant based ethos. When a finished product performs beyond its original purpose, its both surprising and satisfying to witness.

We love to hear back from cusiomers who find alternative uses for our products or, indeed, skin conditions that are eased by using our skincare.
